What to expect

Taking the first step to find the right therapy and therapist can be daunting. I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation which allows us to get to know a little about each other and briefly explore your main difficulties. It’s helpful to consider what changes you hope to make with therapy before we speak. If we decide my approach and style could help, we will discuss practical details before your first session.

The first session we will begin to explore your difficulties in more detail. The aim being, to have a shared understanding of problems and then how to approach them. I may draw from different approaches to aid understanding and share these with you. We will also discuss the number of sessions you may need and any additional information that may be beneficial for you to read during therapy.

As therapy progresses we will continue to develop an understanding of your patterns of thinking/feeling/doing, considering both past experiences and current problems and how these can affect your way of relating to 'self, others and the world'.

I work openly and collaboratively with clients, with you in the driver's seat and me by your side. I may use various therapeutic approaches to facilitate new insights and help you find different ways of reacting and relating to your thoughts and everyday situations. Each person is unique, so it's essential to tailor treatment to your specific goals.
My overall aim is to help you increase self-awareness, objectivity, build internal resources, and learn new skills to maintain desired change.
